UDC Men’s Tennis Swept by No. 6 Concordia

WASHINGTON, DC – The University of the District of Colubia men's tennis team was defeated by the No. 6 ranked team in Division II, Concordia College (NY), 9-0 on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in the nation's capital.

The Firebirds (7-7), ranked No. 4 in this week's first NCAA East Region poll of the season, suffered losses in all three doubles matches and all six singles matches as they dropped their 3rd straight match to a regionally-ranked opponent. The top-ranked team of the East Region, Concordia, won its 4th straight match and improved to 13-4 overall.

The Clippers, who feature the top-five individual ranked players in the East Region (seven of the top-10) and the top-three doubles teams in the East Region, cruised to victories in all six singles matches and two of the three doubles matches.

UDC's Ander Murillo and Diego Pinto forced extended match play in No. 3 doubles and nearly scored a match point for the Firebirds, but ultimately fell to Rafael Ferreira and Juuso Ojanen – the No. 4 and No. 1 ranked individual players in the region – by a score of 9-7.

Next up, UDC will visit the No. 7 ranked team in the East Region, Adelphi , on Tuesday, April 14th at 12 p.m.
