Diego Pinto Earns East Coast Conference Men’s Tennis Rookie of the Week

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – The University of the District of Columbia's Diego Pinto was named East Coast Conference Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week for his performance in the week ending April 5^th.

Pinto (Electrical Engineering – Santa Cruz, Bolivia/Franco Bolivia) was 2-0 in singles play and 1-1 in doubles play during a 1-1 week for the Firebirds. He earned an impressive singles victory over the No. 13 ranked singles player in the East Region, NYIT's David Jiang, to pick up UDC's only victory in an 8-1 defeat. He also secured a singles victory in UDC's 9-0 victory vs. Dowling.

Pinto and the Firebirds, ranked No. 8 in the ITA East Region poll, will visit Queens on Saturday, April 11^th and then come home to host Concordia on Sunday, April 12^th.
