Firebirds Men’s Tennis Falls at Merrimack, 7-2

MIDDLETON, MA – The No. 9 regionally ranked University of the District of Columbia men's tennis team was defeated by No. 5 Merrimack College, 7-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Northeast Tennis Center.

Freshman Diego Pinto (Electrical Engineering – Santa Cruz, Bolivia/Franco Bolivia) teamed up with Ander Murillo for a 9-8 victory at No. 3 doubles and also won his No. 6 singles match over Tayyab Sheikh, 8-2. UDC (3-3), coming off an impressive 7-2 victory over the No. 6 ranked team in the region So. New Hampshire the previous day, lost two of the three doubles matches and five of the six singles matches as the Warriors (2-4) snapped a four-match losing streak with today's victory.

The Firebirds will next visit Edinboro, the No. 3 ranked team in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region on Friday, March 20th at 4 p.m.
