Andersson and Baguelin Eliminated in A Doubles Quarterfinals; Feligioni Falls in B Singles Quarterfinals

FLUSHING, NY – After advancing to the ITA East Regional Men's A Doubles quarterfinals with two doubles wins on Day 1, Simon Andersson and Alexis Baguelin were defeated by Concordia's (NY) No. 4 seeded pair Tomasz Olfans and Jui Mao, 8-3 on Day 2. Also, freshman Marco Feligioni earned two consecutive Men's B Singles victories on Sunday before his defeat in the quarterfinals, 6-3 by Chestnut Hill's Jonathan Ducretrot.

Feligioni first defeated Southern New Hampshire's Adam Frey, 6-1 in the Rd. of 32, and followed that up with a 6-2 win in the Rd. of 16 over Assumption College's Christian Zuber.

In other Men's B Singles action, Diego Pinto defeated Post's David Navorec, 6-2 in the Rd. of 32, but was narrowly defeated by Stonehill's Thomas Bellio, 7-5.

This concludes play for the Firebirds in the 2014 ITA East Regional Championships. They will be back in action on October 7^th with a road match vs. the Northeast-10's Adelphi.

Day 1

Simon Andersson and Alexis Baguelin  advanced to the Men's A Doubles Quarterfinals with two consecutive victories, and Marco Feligioni and Diego Pinto each won their Men's B Singles first round match in Day 1 of the ITA East Regional Championships on Saturday.

Andersson and Baguelin upset the No. 6-seeded doubles pair from Chestnut Hill – Michael Humes and Kevin Taylor, 8-3. They then grinded out an 8-4 win over a pair from Merrimack in the Round of 16. They will play in the quarterfinals on Sunday.

Only the first round of the Men's B Singles draw was played on Saturday. Marco Feligioni and Diego Pinto each won their respective matches to advance to the 2^nd round.

In other action, Baguelin, Andersson and Ander Murillo all won their first round Men's A Singles matches, but were eliminated in the 2^nd round. Murillo and Pinto teamed up in Men's A Doubles, but were ousted in the first round.
