Miguel Uzcategui Earns Second Consecutive 1st Team All-East Coast Conference Honor
CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – For the second consecutive year, senior Miguel Uzcategui of the University of the District of Columbia men's tennis team has earned First Team All-East Coast Conference honors, it was announced by the league office on Thursday, April 24th.
Uzcategui (Electrical Engineering – Valencia, Venezuela/Colegio Sagrado Corazon) finished the regular season with an overall singles mark of 10-6, including a 5-1 record at No. 1 singles in league play. His only loss of the season came against NYIT's Julio Pulido – the ECC Player of the Year, and he beat a fellow First Teamer in Queens' Youness Hidass. In doubles play, he and senior Ike Kiro finished 9-6 overall, including a 4-2 mark in league play.
Uzcategui and the Firebirds are a No. 2 seed in this weekend's ECC Championship Tournament. They will take on No. 3 seed and tournament host Queens today at 2 p.m.
