University of the District of Columbia Men's Tennis Falls to No. 24 Queens College

WASHINGTON, DC - The Firebirds were defeated by the No. 24 ranked team in the country, Queens College 8-1, on Friday afternoon at the UDC Tennis Courts.

The Knights who were picked to finish first in the East Coast Conference (ECC) Coaches' Preseason Poll for the second straight year, picked up their second conference win of the season to stay undefeated at 2-0. The Firebirds dropped their first conference match of the season and are now 11-3 overall.

Queens College jumped out to an early lead by winning all three doubles matches. The Knights clinched the match by winning four straight singles matches. They were led by No. 1 ranked regional player Attila Toth. The Firebirds won their only match of the day at No. 3 singles with senior Bruno Reich (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/Colegio Tempo de Aprender) defeating the No. 8 ranked regional singles player Nikolaj Wulff 3-6, 6-4, 10-6.

The Firebirds will look to rebound from this performance tomorrow, Sat. April 7th at 12pm, with another conference match against NYIT. NYIT is 2-0 in the East Coast Conference and 8-8 overall this season.
