UDC Men Ranked #4 in East Region; Shut Down NYIT on the Road, 9 - 0

Old Westbury,NY-April 15, 2011: UDC Men's Tennis continued its dominant Spring by defeating New York Insititue of Technology, 9-0, in a East Coast Conference road match Friday. The Firebirds are now 12-3 for the season and 3-0 in the ECC.

Tomas Gajdusek (Finance Major-Prague,Czech Republic ) defeated Vojislav Pecioza (NYIT), 6-1, 6-4 in a battle of No.1's to lead the way. Bruno Reich ( Business Major- Rio de Janeiro,Brazil), Miguel Uzcategui (Electrical Engineering Major-Valencia,Venezuela), Carlos Quiroga ( Electrical Engineering Major- Valencia ), Karlon Bernard ( Psychology Major- Trinidad and Tobago ) and Lalindra Jayatilleke (Electrical Engineering Major-Suva,Fjij Islands ) all chipped in with victories in their respective matches.

Before they took to the road, the UDC men found out that they were ranked 4th in the East Region, a ranking essential to possible NCAA selection in a few days. Concordia College (NY) was #1, Queens College (NY) was #2, and Merrimack (MA) was #3. UDC plays Queens ( who is also ranked 26th in the nation by the ITA - Intercollegiate Tennis Association) on Saturday.
