UDC Men’s Tennis Player Carlos Quiroga Named ECC Rookie of the Week

 Central Islip, NY: April 12, 2011- The East Coast Conference  (ECC) has announced that University of the District of Columbia Firebirds Men's Tennis player  freshman Carlos Quiroga (Electrical Engineering- Valencia, Venezuela) has been named the ECC Men's Tennis Player Rookie of the Week.

This was the second time this season that Quiroga has received this honor. He was previously the ECC Rookie of the Week for March 7, 2011.

Quiroga was undefeated last week. He and doubles partner Miguel Uzcategui swept all of their matches, defeating NCAA Division I Coppin State's Quincy Darko/ Casey Pleasants, 8-0; Shepherd University's  Michael Lesko/ Al Starlings,8-1; conference foes Dowling College's Michael Sinclair/Victor Kim,8-3, and St. Thomas Aquinas College's  Antoine Venard/Prince Silva, 8-1. In singles competition, he defeated Coppin's Casey Pleasants, 6-0, 6-0; Shepherd's Kent Thomas 6-1(7-3), 7-6; Dowling's Justin Skidmore 6-0, 6-1 and St. Thomas's Nick Cittadino  6-3, 5-7, 6-1.
