Firebirds Unable to Answer the Knights Pair; Drops ECC Decision 0-2

FLUSHING, N.Y. - The University of the District of Columbia fell to ECC Queens College 0-2, Saturday afternoon at the QC Field. The Firebirds move to 5-6-1 on the season, 1-4 in the conference while the Knights improved to 9-5, 4-2 in the ECC. It was a scoreless game for the first 75 minutes of play with both teams unable to find the back of the net. Kenec Elvir had the first shot on goal of the game in the opening six minutes, which was denied by the home teams goalkeeper Dario Cruz. A few minutes later the Knights posted a shot which was also denied by Simon Birnstad. Both teams would enter into the half scoreless. As the game seemed to be headed in the direction of a scoreless draw, the turnaround for Queens came at the 74th minute as Nicholas Tagios ended the drought with two back to back goals which would go unanswered. Despite having more shots on goal, 5-3, and the edge on corner kicks, 8-6, the Firebirds couldn't catch a break as the QC defenders were able to deny their opportunities. UDC (5-6-1, 1-4 ECC) is back at home next Saturday, as they continue ECC play, hosting St Thomas Aquinas College in search of their second conference win.
