Javier Abadia Torres Erupts with Eight Saves in Firebirds 2-0 Shutout Victory Over East Stroudsburg

WASHINGTON, DC- Senior Goalkeeper, Javier Abadia Torres saved eight of East Stroudsburg's 10 shots to lead the University of the District of Columbia's men's soccer team to their second shutout victory of the season. The Firebirds improved to 3-1-1 on the season while the Warriors fell to 1-3.

Two Firebirds saw the back of the net, Ignacio Pericet and Kenec Elvir. Pericet posted his first goal of the season in the first half in a crowded net, after finishing a shot blasted by Ian Luque Sanchez to give UDC the 1-0 lead. ESU's offense was on the attack out shooting the Firebirds nine to four in the first half, but kept getting denied by Torres.

The next and final goal came from Elvir at the 63rd minute, after sending a cross from teammate Axel Gamez, to the back of the net to seal the deal.

Next up, UDC (3-1-1, 0-0 ECC) will head to Pennsylvania on Saturday, to face off against Slippery Rock University, with a noon tip-off time.
