UDC Men’s Soccer Soar to 3-0 Shutout Victory over the Huskies

WASHINGTON, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's men's soccer team soared to a 3-0 shutout victory over Bloomsburg on Wednesday afternoon at the RFK Fields. Freshman forward Ignacio Pericet came off the bench to register two goals leading the Firebirds offensively with four points. UDC improved to an 8-4-2 record and Bloomsburg fell to a 9-7 record.

The Firebirds came out blazing with Imrane Achahi getting the Firebirds up on the scoreboard, just two minutes into the first half. His goal would go unanswered with the score set at 1-0 going into the half.

At the 63 minute mark, Pericet checked into the game and drove the ball straight to the back of the net within seconds, to give UDC a 2-0 lead over the Huskies. He then went on to seal the deal with another unanswered goal for a 3-0 win.

UDC (8-4-2, 5-0-2) will host their last home game of the season on Saturday, October 30th at the Maryland SoccerPlex on Field 5. The Firebirds will take on conference foe Bridgeport University, in a battle to secure their spot in the ECC tournament. The game is slated to begin at 1:30 pm.
