Achahi Scores First Goal on the Season to Lead Firebirds to Victory Over Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The University of the District of Columbia's men's soccer team defeated the College of Staten 1-0, on Wednesday afternoon at the Dolphin Soccer Park. Freshman Imrane Achahi scored the lone goal of the game to help keep the Firebirds undefeated in Conference play. UDC improved to a 4-4, 3-0 ECC record on the season.

It was a scoreless first half as both teams struggled to connect the ball into the back of the net. The Firebirds and the Dolphins both had two shots and two saves but CSI had the advantage on corner kicks 5-1. Tensions were also very high as five fouls were called on UDC and seven on CSI.

With the score still at 0-0 going into the second half the pressure was on. At the 60th minute a fast break by Michel Egbame with a pass to Vitor Gomes, which he redirected to Achahi who followed through, gave the Firebirds their first and only goal of the game.

UDC is back in action this Saturday, October 2nd as they host Queens College at the RFK Fields. They look to get their 5th win of the season and to remain undefeated in the Conference.
