GREENSBURG, PA- The University of the District of Columbia's men's soccer team opened their season at Seton Hill on Friday afternoon. Junior midfielder Pierre La Noire led the team with a goal and an assist, but the Firebirds came up short falling 3-2 to the Griffins.
UDC got off to a great start with La Noire sinking a goal in the back of the net, seven minutes into the first half. The Griffins were able to even the score 1-1 after Anthony Panko scored with ten minutes left to go in the first half.
The second half started with a goal for the Griffins who were able to score within the first couple of minutes, to put them in the lead 2-1. The next goal of the half would come from junior forward Joseluiz Avalos (assisted by La Noire), to even the score, 2-2 with only five minutes left to go in game. This tie was unfortunately short lived as the Griffins retaliated with a goal, only a minute after to secure the win.
The Firebirds (0-1, 0-0) will face off against Millersville in their next game on Sunday, September 5th.
