UDC Men’s Soccer Remains No. 7 in Final NCAA Division II East Region Poll Before Tournament Selection

INDIANAPOLIS – The University of the District of Columbia Men's Soccer team remained at No. 7 for the 3rd consecutive week in the final NCAA Division II East Region poll before the Division II Tournament selection show on Monday, November 6th.
The third and final poll of the season took into account only games through Sunday, October 29th, which had the Firebirds splitting games last week to finish the regular season 13-5. UDC earned a quality win over regional non-conference foe Goldey-Beacom College (14-4-1) on Wednesday, October 25th, but went on to drop its regular season finale at Queens (8-6-2) on Saturday, October 28th.
Since then, the Firebirds earned a momentous East Coast Conference semifinal win on Tuesday afternoon, 3-2 (OT) vs. Mercy College. With that win, UDC now faces ECC Tournament top-seed LIU Post in Brookville, NY for the ECC Finals on Friday, November 3rd at 1 p.m.
With a win in the ECC Championship, the Firebirds would be an automatic qualifier for the NCAA Division II Tournament. With a loss, they would need to earn a place in the top-six of the region on Selection Show Monday to earn the program's first NCAA Division II Tournament berth.
