University of the District of Columbia Men’s Soccer Team Earns Second Straight NSCAA College Team Academic Award for 2015-16

KANSAS CITY, MO – The University of the District of Columbia men's soccer team is one of 892 collegiate soccer teams (315 men, 577 women) from throughout the United States to earn the NSCAA Team Academic Award for exemplary performance in the classroom as a team during the 2015-16 academic year. This marks the second straight year Head Coach Matt Thompson's squad has earned this distinction.

To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player's GPA, then dividing by the number of student-athletes. The Firebirds' team GPA was 3.17.

The 2015 Firebirds men's soccer team also featured two D2 Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award honorees (Louis Connor and Liam Haycock) for a 3.5 GPA or above, and 10 East Coast Conference Commisioner's Honor Roll awardees for a 3.25 GPA or better.
