Men's Soccer Defeated 2-0 at Dowling

OAKDALE, NY - The University of the District of Columbia men's soccer team was defeated at Dowing, 2-0 in East Coast Conference action on Saturday afternoon. 

With the loss, the Firebirds (5-10-1, 3-6 ECC) are no long in ECC playoff contention. Dowling improved to 4-8-1 overall and 4-4 in league play with the win. 

UDC fired 12 shots in total, including five on goal, but Golden Lion goalkeeper Chris Friedl stopped all five shots he faced to preserve a shutout victory - only the 3rd time the Firebirds have been shut out this season. 

Dowling scored a goal each half as Carlos Iparraguirre opened the scoring in the 20th minute when he one-timed a cross by Chris Hetherington, and Mike Gronenthal added an insurance penalty kick goal in the 60th minute. 

The Firebirds will wrap up the 2015 season on the road at Queens, Wednesday, October 28th at 3:30 p.m.
