Liam Haycock Earns East Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – Freshman midfielder Liam Haycock of the University of the District of Columbia men's soccer team was named East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week for his performance in last week's 3-0 Firebirds victory over Daemen.

Haycock (Nutrition – Stafford, England/Codsall Community HS) scored his first collegiate goal in the first half of Saturday's game, giving UDC a 2-0 advantage at that particular juncture.

He has battled injuries and missed three games thus far this season, but has made his impact felt in 12 games played this season, registering three points on one goal and one assist and taking 16 total shots.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ever Guevera Alvarez also made this week's ECC Men's Soccer Honor Roll for his six-save, complete-game shutout victory.

Haycock, Alvarez and the Firebirds will host Molloy College in a pivotal game for UDC as it attempts to make the four-team ECC Tournament for the first time since joining the conference.
