NSCAA East Region Poll

KANSAS CITY – The University of the District of Columbia men's soccer team fell five spots to No. 10 in the Week 5 National Soccer Coaches' Association of America East Region poll released Tuesday afternoon.

The Firebirds (5-4-1, 2-2 ECC) suffered back-to-back East Coast Conference losses last week. First, they fell behind 2-0 on the road to the two-time reigning ECC champions, LIU Post, and dropped a 2-1 decision. Then, they managed to force a 1-1 tie in the second half at home vs. Bridgeport, only to surrender a game-winning goal with only 6:30 remaining in regulation for another 2-1 loss.

Currently, junior goalkeeper Louis Connor (Elementary Education – Birmingham, England/Arthur Terry School) leads the conference and is ranked 18th in the nation with 50 saves this season. Connor is also 5th in the league in save percentage at .714. Also, sophomore forward Felix Angerer (Business Management – Bayreuth, Germany/Graj Minster Gymnasium Bayreuth), who had a foot in both UDC's goals last week with a goal scored and one assist, is 4th in the league in goals (6) and points (15).

UDC will look to bounce back from its first back-to-back losses of the season as the Firebirds host non-conference foe Chestnut Hill on Wednesday, October 8th at Maryland Soccerplex.
