Nenad Smiljanic Earns Second ECC Rookie of the Week Honor
CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – Freshman midfielder Nenad Smiljanic of the University of the District of Columbia Men's Soccer team has earned his second East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week honor for his performance in the week ending October 6th.
Smiljanic (Business Administration – Barnsley, England/Barnsley College), who was also honored as rookie of the week on September 16th, earned his second weekly honor by scoring a hat trick in the Firebirds' 5-2 win at Molloy last week. He was 2-for-2 in penalty kicks that day alone, and he also put all four of his shots for the week on goal.
Smiljanic is third on the team with nine points on four goals and one assist. He is also fourth on the team with 14 shots.
The Firebirds are 6-4 overall and 1-3 in ECC play. They will visit non-conference foe Wilmington (DE) on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. The Wildcats are ranked No. 4 in the East Region.
