Firebirds’ Blanked at Mercy, 2-0

DOBBS FERRY, NY –Mercy's Ransmond Aboagye scored the game's only two goals, both in the first half, as the host defeated the University of the District of Columbia men's soccer team, 2-0 in East Coast Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

The Firebirds continue to struggle on the road as they fell to 4-6-2 overall and 1-4-1 in league play. They are winless (0-4-1) on the road this season and 1-6-1 in their last eight games. Meanwhile, Mercy improved to 9-3-2 overall and 4-3 in league play.

Aboagye dribbled by a Firebird defender and fired a shot past graduate goalkeeper Omar Gonzalez (Business Administration – Los Angeles, CA/Park View HS) for the first goal of the game in the 13th minute of action.  He would tally again 28 minutes later as he received a pass from Ernest Afful and beat three Firebird defenders for a Mercy insurance goal at the 40:44 mark.
