UDC “Pink Events” Help Raise Breast Cancer Awareness

Washington, DC— The UDC Men's Soccer and Volleyball Teams both hosted events to help raise money for the Susan G. Komen and Sideout Foundation. The entire month of October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As a whole, all of the UDC Athletic programs raised money, with all of the proceeds going to the breast cancer awareness foundations.

The Men's Soccer Team hosted Millersville University for the "Kick for a Cause" game on Wednesday, October 19th. The Firebirds honored Breast Cancer Awareness Month by sporting pink soccer socks during their match. At the game, donations were received through the purchase of pink bracelets and soccer balls. The pink soccer balls were signed or dedicated to a person who was affected by breast cancer and then mounted on the main wall in the UDC Gym. The soccer team fell in a close match-up by a score of 3-2.

The "Dig Pink" game was hosted by the Volleyball Team on Wednesday, October 26th as they took on Bridgeport University. The team wore pink shirts during their game in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. Several donations were also received at this event as pink bracelets and pink volleyballs were sold. The Firebirds ended up falling to Bridgeport in a close one.
