UDC Men’s Soccer Improves to 7-3-3 With Win 1-0 Win Over Washington Adventist University

Takoma Park, MD - The UDC Men's Soccer Program continues to improve as the season progresses, and tonight's 1-0 win over Washington Adventist was another example of this. Freshman midfielder Ben Diaz (Silver Spring, MD (El Salvador) - Northwood HS) tallied the game winner at the 52:54 mark, and the Firebirds held on to win 1-0. The Firebirds advance to 7-3-3 on the year while the Washington Adventist Shock fall to 3-9-1.

The game winner, tallied by Ben Diaz, was assisted by junior midfielder Adriel Garcia (Sau Paulo, Brazil - Anglo Campinas) and Ramu Davis.  Exceptional performances were turned in by freshman midfielder Bruno Borba (Kennesaw, GA - Allatoona HS) and Adriel Garcia at the midfield and freshmen backers John During (Sierra Leone, West Africa) and Tom Ryan (Rugby, England - Bilton School).  During and Ryan controlled the defensive end and contributed to holding the Shock to zero goals on the day.

UDC Head Coach Matt Thompson had this to say about tonight's outing, "We battled hard tonight. We worked at it, and came away with the win.  I am glad we did because I think our guys deserved it and they earned it."

The Firebirds return to action on Wednesday at home at 4:00pm against Millersville.  Wednesday is UDC Men's Soccer Kick for a Cause game for Breast Cancer Awareness.
