UDC and West Virginia Wesleyan Battle to 2-2 Double Overtime Tie

Johnstown, PA: September 4, 2010- The University of the District of Columbia Firebirds Men's Soccer Team  and the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats played to a double overtime, 2-2, tie, today, in the Johnstown Classic in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.  The Bobcats took an early lead when the ball accidentally  crossed the goal line as UDC sought to defend at  23:48 into the match, then  again when Nicholas Amberman took a cross from Toni Suta and scored at 49:12.

UDC came back to tie the match  on two goals from sophomore defender/mid-fielder Mario Banegas (business major- Frederick, MD). The First UDC goal was scored at 51:05 into the match when freshman defender  Henry Reyes, Jr. (Clarksburg, MD) sent a cross over the middle, which Banegas kicked into the net. The second Firebird goal came at 60:37 mark when Banegas made a penalty kick.

UDC, 0-1-1, will play again on September 9, when they travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to take on the Chestnut Hill Griffins.
