Lock Haven Defeats UDC, 3-0, in Soccer

Washington, DC: October 29, 2009—The Lock Haven University Eagles defeated the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds, 3-0, in soccer this afternoon at the UDC Sports Complex Soccer Field. Sophomore striker Greg Shertzer (Erie, PA) led the Eagles with two goals for the win.

Shertzer scored the first goal in the 12th minute unassisted and his second in the 31st minute. Junior mid-fielder Mark Auman (Clearfield, PA) scored the Eagle third goal in the 42nd minute, unassisted.

The two teams were close in the number of shots taken, with Lock Haven out shooting UDC 16-12.  Senior goal keeper Kareem Gray (Gasparillo, Trinidad) made 3 saves during the match, while freshman defenseman Victor Saravia (Sterling, VA) and sophomore mid-fielder Said Nabih (Alexandria, VA) each, took 5 shots during the match.

UDC (2-12-1) returns to the field at home on Sunday, November 1, at 1 p.m., against Salem University.
