UDC Falls to Dowling, 5-0

Brookhaven, NY: September 21, 2009—The University of the District of Columbia Firebirds were shut out by the Dowling College Golden Lions, 5-0, in soccer this afternoon in Brookhaven, New York. Ajani Jones led the Golden Lions to the win with two goals, one in the 32nd minute and the other coming in the 58th minute.

Keita Moussa opened the Dowling scoring with a shot to the right corner on an assist from Harald Gundhus three minutes into the match. Gundhus then scored his own goal in the 22nd minute with an assist from John Ortega.  Michael Nicolini finished the Dowling scoring unassisted on a shot in the 62nd minute. Senior goal keeper Kareem Gray (Gasparillo, Trinidad) made 7 saves for the Firebirds. Dowling out shot UDC 20-7.

UDC (1-6-1) returns to action on September 26, against West Chester University in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
