UDC Shutout by West Chester, 5-0, In Soccer

West Chester, PA: September 26, 2009—The University of the District of Columbia Firebirds Men’s Soccer Team was shutout, 5-0, today by the West Chester University Golden Rams in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Junior forward Ricky Williamson (Bethlehem, PA) led the Golden Rams in victory scoring two goals, the first in the 81st minute, unassisted, and the second in the 83rd minute, also unassisted.

Freshman defensive mid-fielder Taylor Eisenhauer (Mechanicsburg, PA) opened scoring for West Chester when he kicked the ball into the net (unassisted) in the 25th minute of the match.  Senior defensive mid-fielder Zach Weaver (Lancaster, PA) scored the second goal for the Golden Rams in the 54th minute unassisted on a rebounded penalty kick.  West Chester’s third goal came in the 62nd minute when freshman mid-fielder Ryan Dicce scored with assists from senior mid-fielder Matt Aunet (Landenburg, PA) and Zach Weaver.

UDC senior goal keeper Kareem Gray (Gasparillo, Trinidad) made 9 saves for the Firebirds. West Chester outshot UDC 22 to 10.

The Firebirds are now 1-7-1 for the season. Their next opponent will be Shepherd University in a match that will take place in Shepherdstown, West Virginia at 3:30 p.m., on September 29, 2009.
