George Washington Tops UDC 7-1

Washington, D.C.: September 8, 2009-- Despite the yeoman efforts of senior goal keeper Kareem Gray (Gasparillo, Trinidad), who made 12 saves during the University of the District of Columbia's soccer match against the Division I  George Washington University Colonials, he could not hold off the Colonials as they topped the Firebirds, 7-1, in soccer action this afternoon at George Washington's Mt. Vernon Sports Complex in northwest Washington.  Sophomore mid-fielder Said Nabih (Alexandria, VA) scored the lone UDC goal when he put the ball into the upper right hand corner in the 27th minute, unassisted.

GWU's senior Andy Stadler performed his first career hat trick , scoring three goals in leading the Colonials to the win. Four other Colonials added a goal each to help them to the lopsided defeat of the Firebirds. GWU outshot UDC 31-5 with a 19-2 shot on goal advantage.

UDC (1-3-1) will next face the Columbia Union College Pioneers in Takoma Park, Maryland on Thursday, September 10, at 8 p.m.
