Firebirds Tie Rams 1-1 in Double Overtime
Washington, DC: October 15, 2008— The University of the District of Columbia Firebirds and the West Chester University Rams played to a double overtime 1-1 tie in a spirited soccer contest this afternoon at the RFK Auxiliary Field in Washington, DC. Each team scored in the second period and neither was able to get the ball over the goal line during the two overtime periods following the end of regulation play.
Ram forward Paul Ballard drew the first blood scoring an unassisted goal in the 70th minute of the period. Firebird freshman forward Said Nabih, playing in his first match of the season, knotted the score with an unassisted goal in the 86th minute.
The Firebirds (2-7-2) will be back in action
on Thursday, October 16, against the Lock Haven University Bald
Eagles in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania.
