Columbia Union Slips Past UDC for 3-2 Win

Takoma Park, MD:October 12, 2007—In an exciting action filled soccer match, the Columbia Union College Pioneers slipped a win in over the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds this afternoon in Takoma Park, Maryland. With the score knotted 2-2, and eight minutes remaining in the match, Se-Eun Park took a cross from Bijan Namdar and booted the winning goal to give the Pioneers the 3-2 victory.

UDC junior mid-fielder Gueswende Kyemtore scored both of the Firebird goals in the second period, with the first coming in the 61st minute on an unassisted kick, and the second in the 72nd minute on a penalty kick that tied the score 2-2.  Edward Kamara scored Union’s first goal in the 30th minute with an assist from Nathaniel Oyefeso,, and E-Un Park scored the first of his two Union goals in the 52nd minute with an assist from Vernon Lambe.

The penalty filled game saw UDC hit with four yellow cards, while Union was issued two. The teams were close in shots taken with Union taking 19 and UDC 16.

The Firebirds (2-7-1) will return to action on Thursday, October 18, against the Shippensburg University Raiders.
