Firebirds Fall 3-1 in Opening Soccer Match of Season

Aston, PA: September 1, 2007—The Neumann College Knights defeated the UDC Firebirds 3-1 today in soccer action in Aston, Pennsylvania. The Firebirds were seeking to give new Head Coach Khary Stockton his first collegiate coaching win, but the Knights had other plans.

Sophomore forward Kendel Penny scored the Firebird’s lone goal unassisted at the 31 minute mark. Neumann’s goals were scored by Mike Barbagallo (5:24), Zach Sell (24:16) and Jesse Urquhart (69:11).

UDC’s next soccer match will be Tuesday, September 3, when they host NYACK College at Trinity University in Washington, D.C. UDC will play it’s home matches at different locations due to the conditions of its home field. See the schedule of matches on the athletic web site, , for details.
