HOLY FAMILY EXTENDS UDC’S MEN’S SOCCER LOSSES

Philadelphia, PA: September 12, 2006 – The trip to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania did not help the UDC Men’s Soccer Team as they extended their loss record to 6 in a row when Holy Family University defeated them, 2-0, in a match this afternoon. The Firebirds continue to suffer offensively, taking fewer shot attempts than their opponents and failing to score goals.

The Tigers scored their first goal in the 57th minute, when Jim Latronica took the ball on a rebound in front of the goal and sent it over the goal line, with an assist from Al Hewitt.
Their second score came in the 88th minute when Sean Hordijenko took a cross from Ed Szambelak and kicked the ball across the goal line.

UDC took 13 shots at the goal, while Holy Family took 22, two of which were sent over the goal line for the win. UDC’s goal keeper Boyan Yankulov continued his great defense by making 7 saves. Yankulov is ranked number three in the country among NCAA Division II schools, in goals saved, for the week of September 10, 2006.

UDC’s next opponent will be Saint Thomas Aquinas University, Saturday, September 16, in Sparkill, New York.
