UDC Loses Soccer Match to West Chester, 1-3

West Chester, PA: August 27, 2006-- The University of the District of Columbia Firebirds fell to the West Chester University Golden Rams by the score of 1-3, today, during the West Chester Invitiational in West Chester, Pennsylvania. It was the third straight loss for the Firebirds, who continue to struggle as they blend as a new team.

West Chester played a tough defensive game, allowing UDC only 6 shots at the goal while taking 14 themselves. UDC scored their first, and  only, goal of the match in the 38th minute when Edwin Bonilla took a header from Myron Douglas and headed the ball into the goal.

West Chester's first goal came in the 47th minute when Mike Pryor scored on an assist from Alex Inman. Their second goal came in the 75th minute when David Miller took a pass from Ricky Mucelli to score. The final West Chester goal was scored in the 87th minute when Nugent Bryant punched it in unassisted.

UDC goal keeper Boyan Yankulov continued his outstanding efforts of the season by making 11 saves from the 14 shots that came his way. Yankulov has already amassed a total of 31 saves in 270 minutes of play this season.

The Firebirds,0-3, will see their next action on Wednesday, September 30,at 5 p.m against Shippensburg University at home .
