SHIPPENSBURG SHUTSOUT UDC 1-0 IN SOCCER
Largo, MD: August 30, 2006— The Shippensburg University Raiders shutout the Firebirds of the University of the District of Columbia, 1-0, in men’s soccer action this evening in a match played in Largo, Maryland. After two periods of regulation time, neither of the teams could muster a goal, but in the second minute of double overtime, Shippensburg’s Brad Jandil took a pass from Kevin Freeman and kicked the ball over the goal line, into the net, to win the match and take home their second win of the season.
It was a hard fought contest, with Shippensburg taking 29 shots at the goal, while UDC continued to struggle offensively, taking just 16 shots at the goal. UDC goal keeper Boyan Yankulov continued his outstanding work by making 7 saves.
UDC’s next match will be against
Dowling College on September 3, in Dowling, New York. The Firebirds
2006 season record now stands at 0-4-0.
