Firebirds Overtaken by the Lions in Closely Contested Match Up

WASHINGTON, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's men's lacrosse team fell to Georgian Court, ina. closely contested battle 14-11, Wednesday afternoon on the UDC Field. Julian Schemm led the Firebird's offensive with a team and season-high four goals.

Seven Firebirds scored, with Schemm and Zander Torres leading the way. Torres had two goals and a team-high five groundballs. Jeffrey Vo had a team high four assists and  Najee Wilson had a season-high nine saves in the second half. 

The opening minutes saw both teams go tit for tat, with Schemm and Westly Cateux striking first for the Firebirds. A mini-run by the Lions saw a 6-3 lead going into the second quarter. 

The second, third, and fourth quarters had both teams matching up evenly, scoring the same amount of goals, but the three-point deficit made in the first quarter proved to be the game-changer for the Lions as they went on to take the victory by three goals.  

UDC (1-4, 0-1 ECC) will host Roberts Wesleyan in a conference showdown on Saturday afternoon with a tip-off time of 2:00 pm. The game will be live-streamed on the ECC network.
