UDC Men's Lacrosse Drops Conference Opener to Molloy

WASHINGTON, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's men's lacrosse team fell to Molloy College 17-7 in their conference opener, Saturday afternoon at the UDC Field. The Firebirds fell to 1-3, 0-1 ECC, while the Lions improved to 3-5, 1-0 in league play.

Eric Boco and Zander Torres tallied team-highs of two goals each with Jacob Saunders and Jeffrey Vo tallying two assists each. Carnell Lofton Jr had a game-high 17 groundballs winning 21-23 face-offs for the Firebirds. 

The visiting Lions scored the first three goals of the game, but UDC answered with two back-to-back goals from Joseph Cote and Boco with just two minutes remaining in the first quarter. Both teams were even in the second, scoring two goals, with the Firebirds down by just one going into halftime.

Molloy pulled away in the second half holding UDC to just three goals while netting 12 to secure their first conference victory. 

UDC (1-3, 0-1 ECC) will continue conference play next Saturday when they travel to N.Y. to face off against St Thomas Aquinas College. Tip-off time is set for 12:00 pm and will be live-streamed on the ECC network.
