Firebirds Fall 13-7 at Chestnut Hill

LAFAYETTE HILL, PA – Graduate midfielder Michael King scored a career-high five goals, but it was not enough to lift the University of the District of Columbia men's lacrosse team to victory as the visiting Firebirds were defeated, 13-7 by East Coast Conference foe Chestnut Hill College on Tuesday afternoon.

The Firebirds (4-7, 1-6 ECC) trailed 9-2 at halftime before getting a spark from King, who scored a hat trick in the 3rd quarter alone to help UDC fight back within four, 10-6 heading into the final quarter. King would score his final goal a few minutes into the 4th quarter to make it 10-7, but the Griffins shut down the Firebirds for the final 12:53 and scored the game's final three goals to win by a six-goal margin.

Senior attack Chase Fraser scored UDC's other two goals on the day, and graduate goalkeeper Pat Payne stopped 12 of 24 shots faced.

Chestnut Hill (6-6, 4-3 ECC) had six different goal scorers, including five-point efforts by Alec Dambach on three goals and two assists and Dylan Klusaritz on two goals and three assists. Matthew Pedrick earned the win in goal with 12 saves and seven goals allowed.

The Griffins out-shot the Firebirds 46-30, had nine fewer turnovers (24-15), two fewer penalties (6-4), and won three more face-offs (13-10). CHC was also a perfect 19-of-19 on clear attempts compared to UDC's 16-of-21.

UDC visits No. 8 nationally-ranked LIU Post for its season finale on Saturday, April 23rd.
