Firebirds Upended by Falcons

WASHINGTON, DC- the University of the District of Columbia's men's basketball team fell to Nore Dame (Ohio), 67-88, Saturday afternoon at the E.B Henderson Sports Complex.

Vernon Simmons came off the bench to lead the Firebirds with 15 points and eight rebounds. Hartnel Haye also scored in double-gifures, slightly missing out on a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. Tevin Curtis posted 10 points, a game-high six assists and five steals. Eric Morgan Jr also added 12 points. 

The opening minutes saw both teams trading baskets. The lasrt couple of minutes in the first half saw the Falcons slowly pull away with a 44-35 lead.

In the second half , the visitors contined to pull away despite the Firebirds efforts. They struggled from the field going just 11-38 from the field while the Falcons went 18-32.

UDC shot at 39.4% from the field, 16.7% from the three-point line and 81.3% from the foul line. NDC shot at 55.7% from the field, 39.3% from behind the arc and 90% from the charity stripe. 

Up next, UDC (4-6, 2-2 ECC) will head to Holy Family University after the Christmas break on December 30th. The game is set to tip-off at 1:00 pm.
