WASHINGTON, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's men's basketball team celebrated four seniors, during half-time of their game against the College of Staten Island, Saturday afternoon at the E.B Henderson Sports Complex. Jahmir Marable-Williams, Juanye Colon, Deonte Hicks and Kenyon Stone.

Marable-Williams in his time at UDC, was named to the ECC Second-Team for his performance during the 2021-22 season and was the only player in the conference to hit a triple-double that year. He was also named to the BOXTOROW D2 HBCU All-American Second-Team and was awarded the team MVP at the end of year student-athlete celebration. He averaged 12 ppg, 6.1 rebounds, 6 assists and 1.9 steals per game, earning player of the week accolades twice. He had a career high 15 assists in a home game against Mercy and helped an injury-riddled Firebird program, to a post-season appearance. Since the start of the 2022-23 season, Marable-Williams has hit both his 1,000th career point and 500th career assist. He currently leads the conference and is 12th in the nation in assists per game. He is 2nd in the conference in steals and fourth in field goal %. He is also the Team Captain.

Colon helped his team to a post-season appearance in his Freshman year (2019-20), averaging 11.5 ppg, scoring in double-figures in 16 games, and had two games where he hit a career high seven three's. In his sophomore season he averaged 14.2 ppg, and had a career high 35 points in the Firebirds home game against Roberts Wesleyan where he shot 61.1% from the field. Despite battling injury during the 2021-22 season, Colon averaged 10 ppg and helped his team to another post season appearance. Since the start of the 2022-23 season, Colon hit his 1,000th career point, and hit a season high 26 points during the game against Lincoln (Pa.) earlier this season, knocking down 6 three's. He will compete in the ECC Tournament in March, which marks his third career post-season appearance- which makes him the first Firebird from the program to do so. He is also the Team Captain.

Prior to UDC, Hicks attended Neosho CC and Delaware Tech. In his two seasons at UDC, Hicks has battled injury. During the 2021-22 season, he played in 12 games, and shot at 51.1% from the field. Hicks is a Dean's list student, with a GPA of over 3.5. He currently has a total of 477 points and 160 Rebs in his college career.

Prior to UDC Stone attended Garrett CC and Pikeville University. In his first season (2021-22) as a Firebird, Stone averaged 16.9 ppg, 5.5 rebounds per game and shot at 55.8% from the field. Stone scored a total of 440 points on the season and had a career high 25 points in five different games and pulled 11 rebounds in two games. He was ranked second in the conference for points per game, made multiple conference honor rolls and earned ECC Second-Team honors. Stone has battled injury this year, appearing in only nine games.
