SPARKHILL, N.Y.- The University of the District of Columbia's men's basketball team heads to N.Y. to face off against St Thomas Aquinas College to kick off the second round of conference play.

Scouting UDC 

The Firebirds head into this conference match up, ranked 5th with a 4-4 record. They dfeated Roberts Wesleyan earlier last week on the road and then fell to Daemen at home. Jahmir Marable-Williams is ranked first in the conference in assists and steals per game.  Michael Aiken rankes fourth in the conference with 15.4 PPG and is fourth in 3-point shooting. Marable-Williams leads the conference with 6.1 assists per game and is second with 2.3 steals per game. Micah Campbell, who was named Defensive Player of the week earlier on this season, is fifth in the conference with 7.8 RPG and ranks fourth in the conference with 1.9 blocks per game. UDC is currently 6-11 on the season and 4-4 in conference play. They average 79.7 PPG and allow 79.7. They opened up conference play with a close tough loss to nationally ranked St Thomas Aquinas College 78-83 at the end of November. UDC entered the 2022-23 season voted to place fourth in the ECC preseason poll. They finished 9-20 last season and made a first round post season appearance in the conference tournament.

The Spartans are currently nationally ranked with a 17-3 record and is sitting at No.1 in conference standings with a perfect 8-0 record. They head into this match up averaging 84.5 PPG and 42.3 PG while allowing 72 PPG. They are the reining ECC Champions but was voted to placed in the preseason polls. They finished last season with a 28-5 record falling to Bentlwy in the Regional finals. James Patterson is ranked fifth in the conference with 15.3 PPG and is a five time Rookie of the Week honoree this season.
