Firebirds Triple-Figure Scoring Catapults them to 101-85 Conference Victory over the Purple Knights

WASHINGTON, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's men's basketball team secured a 101-85 point conference victory over the University of Bridgeport, Wednesday night at the UDC Sports Complex. The Firebirds improved to 7-17, 6-8 in conference play while the Purple Knights fell to 8-14, 5-8 in league play.

The Firebirds shot at 58.1% from the field to power their first triple-digit game of the season. Kenyon Stone led the offensive charge posting a game-high 25 points. Jahmir Marable-Williams flirted with another triple-double scoring 14 points, 12 assists, and eight rebounds. Hartnel Haye posted another double-double off of 16 points and 14 rebounds while making three blocks. Juanye Colon knocked down a game and season-high five three-pointers to post up 19 points and Tevin Curtis rounded out double-figure scoring for the Firebirds coming off the bench to add 12 points. 

UDC went back and forth with the visiting Purple Knights in the first half, but the home team pulled away with the one-point lead going into halftime. The Firebirds came out the second half blazing opening up their lead to 14 points with 14:23 remaining. UB tried to fight their way back in contention but the home team could not be cooled down as they powered their way to a 16 point victory. 

Next Up the Firebirds (7-17, 6-8 ECC) will head to N.Y.  on Saturday, to face off against Roberts Wesleyan to wrap up their second round of conference play. The game will be live-streamed on the ECC network and is set to begin at 4:00 pm.
