Haye Leads Firebirds With Double-Double; UDC Comes Up Short Against Queens

FLUSHING, N.Y. - The University of the District of Columbia's men's basketball suffered a tough 63-59 loss to conference foe Queens College, on Saturday afternoon. The Firebirds fell to 6-17, 5-8 in the conference while the Knights improved to 8-6, 6-4 in league play.

It was a very slow start for the Firebirds as they couldn't get their shots to fall and despite outscoring the home team in the second half, it wasn't enough to make up the first-half deficit. UDC shot at 44.3% from the field and held Queens to just 37.3%.

UDC led with more points in the paint 46-22 and 16 points off the bench compared to the Knights 0. They edged out the home team with points off turnovers but was edged out in rebounds 39-36.

UDC (6-17, 5-8 ECC) will host Bridgeport in their second round of conference play on Wednesday at 7:00 pm. UDC Athletics is currently not allowing spectators, but the game will be live-streamed on the ECC network.
