Firebirds Dominate in Conference Match Up Against the Lions

WASHINGTON, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's men's basketball team defeated  Molloy College 92-64, Wednesday night at the  UDC Gymnasium.  The Firebirds improved to 6-16, 5-7 in conference play and the Lions fell to 8-12, 6-4 in the ECC. 

Jahmir Marable-Williams registered a triple-double off 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. Teammate Kenyon Stone posted a team-high 24 points and Hartnel Haye rounded of the double-figure scoring with 20 points. UDC shot at a season-best of 60% from the field and outrebounded the Lions 41-24.

The Firebirds came out blazing going on a 16-2 scoring run in the opening minutes, carrying that momentum all the way into half time leading the Lions 48-24.

The visiting team tried their best to rally back into the game but UDC did not let up as the closest Molloy got to the home team was 16 points. The Firebirds would close out the game increasing that deficit to 28 points to end the night with a conference victory. 

Next up UDC (6-16, 5-7 ECC) will head to N.Y.  on Saturday to face off against Queens College in their second and last conference showdown of the regular season.  Tip-off is set for 1:30 pm and will be live-streamed on the ECC network.
