DOBBS FERRY, N.Y.- The University of the District of Columbia's men's basketball team fell to Mercy College 63-50, Saturday afternoon at the Mavericks Gymnasium. The Firebirds fell to 3-15, 2-6 in the ECC, and the Mavericks improved to 2-12, 2-5 in league play.
UDC featured three double-figure scorers with Hartnel Haye leading the way. Haye registered a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Jahmir Marable-Williams scored 11 points while putting up a game-high six assists and Kenyon Stone came off the bench to contribute 11 points.
The visiting Firebirds topped the Mavericks in the first half leading 32-27 going into halftime. The second half saw a completely different game as UDC struggled from the field shooting at just 20% while Mercy shot at 44.4% resulting in a 63-50 victory for the home team.
UDC (3-15, 2-6 ECC) will travel back to N.Y. to face off against the College of Staten Island on Wednesday, January 19th at 7:00 pm. The game will be live-streamed on the ECC network.
