UDC Men's Basketball Fall to Roberts Wesleyan 85-82 in Conference Play

WASHINGTON, DC.- The University of the District of Columbia's men's basketball team suffered another tough conference loss to Roberts Wesleyan 85-82, at the UDC Gymnasium, Saturday afternoon. The Firebirds fell to 3-13 on the season and 2-4 in conference play while the Redhawks improved to 5-5 overall and 3-2 in league play.

The Firebirds featured four double-figure scorers with Juanye Colon and Hartnel Haye leading the way with a season-high 20 points each. Haye also led the team with nine rebounds while posting three assists, three steals, and three blocks. Jahmir Marable-Williams added ten points, eight rebounds, six assists, and a steal and teammate Tevin Curtis added 12 points, five assists, and a steal.

Despite shooting at 51.6% from the field and outrebounding the RedHawks 38-35, the difference-maker came from free throws with the visiting team making 22 compared to UDC's 14. RWC outshot UDC 44-38 in the first half and the Firebirds rallied in the second half to outscore the visitors 44-41, but it wasn't enough as a last-second layup attempt by Marable-Williams resulted in an offensive foul.

UDC (3-13, 2-4 ECC) will host St Thomas Aquinas on Wednesday, January 12 at 7:00 pm.  Spectators will not be allowed but the game will be live-streamed on the ECC network.
