Brown Jr Nets Season High; UDC Falls 78-66 to Chestnut Hill

PHILADELPHIA, P.A- The University of the District of Columbia's men's basketball team fell 78-66, to Chestnut Hill, Tuesday night at the Sorgenti Arena. UDC fell to 1-8 on the season and the Griffins improved to 4-4.

Kenyon Stone had a game and season-high 25 points to lead the Firebirds offensively. He went 11-13 from the field, 2-3 from behind the arc, and 1-2 from the foul line. Freshman reserve Phillip Brown Jr also netted a season-high 15 points, going 4-6 from the field, 1-2 from the arc, and a perfect 6-6 in free throws.

UDC had an explosive first half outscoring the Griffins 40-36 and shooting 63.6% from the field. Stone led this charge shooting 100% from the field netting all six of his attempts. The Firebirds also had the edge over the Griffins defensively outrebounding them 13-8.

The second half saw a complete turnaround for Chestnut Hill as they shot 56.7% from the field while holding the Firebirds to 38.5%. Amir Warrick led the way for the home team netting 12 points to help the Griffins pull away to a convincing 78-66 victory over the Firebirds.

Next up, UDC (1-8, 0-1) will host conference foe Queens College in a doubleheader on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
