Firebirds Ousted by the Bulldogs 80-65

WASHINGTON, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's men's basketball team fell to Bowie State 80-65, Saturday afternoon at home. The Firebirds fell to 1-7 on the season while the Bulldogs snagged their first win to improve 1-6 on the season.

Tevin Curtis registered a game-high 21 points going 7-15 from the field, 4-9 from behind the arc, and 3-4 from the foul line. Kenyon Stone registered 17 points, shooting 50% from the field and going a perfect 6-6 from the free-throw line. Jahmir Marable-Williams rounded out the double-figure scorers contributing 10 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and five steals.

UDC got off to a great start leading Bowie as much as nine points with less than 11 minutes to go in the first half, but the visiting Bulldogs would turn things around with a 23-4 scoring run to take a 10-point lead going into the half.

The Firebirds fought to get back in the game, but the Bulldogs would extend that lead to 15 to snag their first victory of the season.

Next up, UDC (7-1, 0-1 ECC) will face off against Chestnut Hill on Tuesday, with a tip-off time set for 7:00 pm.
