WASHINGTON, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's men's basketball team picked up their first win of the season after defeating the Georgian Court Lions 73-50, Monday night at the UDC Gymnasium. The Firebirds improve to 1-4 on the season and the Lions fall to 0-3.
Seven Firebirds found their way into the scoresheet with Tevin Curtis and Kenyon Stone leading the way with 14 points apiece. Jahmir Marable-Williams posted a team-high 10 rebounds and four steals.
UDC took the early lead, opening up a 20 point deficit going into the half. Georgian Court's second-half rally wasn't enough to cut the deficit as the Firebirds soared past the Lions to a 23 point victory.
Phillip Brown Jr, Nicolaus Kenton, and David Buriss also contributed double-figure scores. Brown Jr added 11 points and Kenton and Buriss each added a season-high 10 points.
Next up UDC (1-4) will head to Delaware on Wednesday to face off against Wilmington at 4:00 pm.
