Firebirds Ousted by the Warriors 67-64

ORANGEBURG, N.Y.- The University of the District of Columbia's men's basketball team fell to Nyack College 67-64, on day two of the Dominican Charger tip-off, Saturday afternoon at the Hennessy Center. Firebirds fall 0-2 on the season and the Warriors improve 1-1.

Jahmir Marable-Williams posted his first double-double of the season on 15 points and 10 rebounds and registered four assists. Kenyon Stone led all scorers with 17 points while registering seven rebounds. Phillip Brown Jr also scored in the double figures contributing 11 points.

The first half resulted in a 35 all tie, with Stone leading the Firebirds with 12 points. UDC went 41.2% at the field, 30.8% from the arc, and 75% at the free-throw line. Nyack struck first with a 3-point jumper to give the Warriors the early lead, leaving UDC to play catch up the first five minutes. A jumper from behind the arc at the 15:41 mark, from Brown Jr gave the Firebirds their first lead of the game which they rode up until the last two minutes, before being tied up.

The second half saw Nyack outscoring UDC 34-29, registering nine steals. The Firebirds eventually fell 67-64.

Next up UDC (0-2) will face off against Bloomfield in another away game. Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm.
