WASHINGTON, DC – The University of the District of Columbia men's basketball team will host its season home opener vs. Virginia Union on Wednesday, November 30th at 6 p.m. in the UDC Sports Complex (Bldg. 47).
The Firebirds (1-3), picked to finish 4th in the East Coast Conference Preseason Poll, have had to play their first four games of the 2016-17 season away from home. Last year, UDC won eight of its 14 games at home.
UDC's opponent Wednesday night, Virginia Union, is coached by the former all-time winningest Firebirds women's basketball coach, Lester "Jay" Butler. The Panthers are currently 4-2 overall, including a 2-1 mark on the road.
Tickets are $5 for adults, $2 for senior citizens (60 and older), military and visiting students of opposing team, and free for UDC students, faculty and staff (must present UDC ID) and children (8 and under). Fans can also still purchase a season ticket package for $100 that will grant them admission to all 24 remaining Firebirds men's and women's basketball games. Seniors and military personnel can purchase season ticket packages for a discounter rate of $75.
