University of the District of Columbia Men’s and Women’s Basketball with Two Remaining Home Doubleheaders
WASHINGTON, DC – The University of the District of Columbia men's and women's basketball teams have two remaining home East Coast Conference doubleheaders: Wednesday, February 10th vs. Dowling, and February 21st vs. St. Thomas Aquinas.
Wednesday night's doubleheader vs. Dowling features a critical matchup on the men's side as the Firebirds, currently 4th place in the league standings at 9-5, look to keep pace with No. 3 Bridgeport (9-4), their next opponent on Saturday. UDC, winners of three of its last four, currently is 11-11 overall and will look to surpass .500 overall for the first time since the 2011-12 season. Dowling, losers of its last two games, is two games in the loss column behind No. 6 Mercy.
The UDC women's basketball team, 16-6 overall and No. 2 in the ECC standings with a league mark of 11-3, will look to right the ship after losses in three of its last four games. The Firebirds' opponent, Dowling, is last place in the league standings at 2-12 (2-18 overall).
February 21st marks the nationally televised doubleheader vs. St. Thomas Aquinas, which is being broadcasted by the American Sports Network. The women tip off at 3 p.m. and the men follow at 5 p.m.
